Maldives – Breaking The Debt Chains

It was 2014, I remember my wife was in the hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was another MS relapse. That year was very taught for us, she had a relapse after relapse. We went to a government Malaysian hospital to take steroids to stop the inflammation in the body. The bed was in a big ward, there were another 5 patients in the same ward.

The immediate neighbor on my wife’s left-hand side was an Indian lady. Ever since my wife moved in she was in a coma. Most of the days she had many people visiting her. It looked like they were church members as they gathered and prayed together.

The Article

When I came to visit my wife, one of the Indian visitors left an Indian Christian magazine. My wife was not interested to read it so I took it. Since I had loads of time on hand, I flipped through it. It was partly English partly Tamil or Hindi. There was nothing really interesting for me. I was about to put it down and then something drew my attention. There was an article filled with stories about miraculously paying off debts by following Biblical principles. I had debts for years and I did not know how to pay them off, it got my attention, so I started reading.

While reading the article a few things happened. Firstly, I have realized that for a very long time subconsciously I considered being in debt to be normal. Most people I knew had debts, so I thought it was not a big deal that I had too. However, from the article I read, I learned that the Bible had some strong words to say about it. “It is a bondage”, “it is being a slave.”

I Was a Slave

It hit me, I never looked at debts that way. Then I remembered when my older brother visited me in Kuala Lumpur after not seeing him for nearly a year, he wanted to spend some time together. I was able to spend with him only the first few days. He asked me to join him, his wife and his friends to go for a trip to Penang. Unfortunately, I was not able to do it, because I had massive debts. I was a slave to the lender.

Not only did I have not enough money coming to my account but I also lived on the remaining of the big overdraft that was additionally pressed by several minimum payments going to my credit cards from my uni days. It cost me loads of money every month to service them. The scary part was, we lived in a foreign country far from home and far from any help. It was a rough season. We had a couple of tough months when we had to delay paying monthly rent to our landlady promising it would be the last time, we had our internet service disconnected once or twice.

I remember one of the lowest moments financially was when having the very last money in the house, around RM50 (around $15 USD). A big part of it was made up from collecting the loose copper change that we found in jars, boxes and even pulled out from in between cushions on the sofa.

On that day I made a trip to the local fruit market called “Pasar Malam” where we could stock up fresh fruits and veggies at a very good price. I carefully and strategically selected to buy bigger items so we would get more food for less money. I bought more potatoes, bananas, cabbage, carrots, and similar cheap and big size veggies. For many of them, I paid with 20-50 coins.

After reading this article, something pierced me inside, I felt very uncomfortable, I realized I agreed with a lie and it carried consequences. That quickly developed a desire to change my situation. I did not know how, but I wanted to change.

Secondly, the article explained that part of the formula was to choose a promise from the Bible and stand on it. It sounded a bit wishy-washy, how could that help my situation, I thought to myself, I had real debts to pay, I had nearly 10 credit cards to maintain, bills to pay. However, these few short stories did something to me. They created a dent in my existing reality. They challenged my assumptions. They challenged my thinking.

Realization

Firstly, when I called being in debt normal, I did not have the desire to change it. When I was told to call it “bondage” or “slavery” I wanted freedom. It was like a surgical knife, the more I agreed with the new way of thinking the more it was cutting out something inside me. The book of Hebrews helped me to understand it

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”

Secondly, I was to choose a promise and stand on it.

I chose this verse:

Deuteronomy 28:12 The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

The book of Mark 3 teaches that The Word of God grows by itself.

Mark 4: 26 And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should [f]scatter seed on the ground, 27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. 28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. 29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

Looking back, I realize there is amazing power about releasing the Word of God to others because it grows and brings up fruits.

Two Choices

I quickly learned that there were two realities that I could choose from.

Choice one: I am in debts,

Choice two: “I am a lender to many nations, a borrower from none”

Obviously, all the evidence was pointing that the first one is right. However, I was intrigued by the second one. Would it be possible for me?

Research

So I started investigating…

The Bible teaches in the book of Amos about the power of agreement.

Amos 2:2  “How can two walk together unless they agree.” Agreement in the Bible means agreeing in four ways.

First Agreement – Thinking – the instruction says to think thoughts agreeing with the promise. Start having immigration office to control the thoughts. Think the thoughts of being debt free and being able to lend to others… that sounded like self-development I thought. Could it be that self-development tapped into spiritual laws that written around 4000 years ago? The Bible teaches in the book of Proverbs 7:23 “as a man thinks so he is”.

Second Agreement – Seeing – let the internal emigration office control the projected images to allow only the ones that agree with the promise

Third Agreement Speaking – Bible says we got to watch what we say, do I speak about “my debts” or “being debt free and lending to others”, sounds strange but according to the Bible through our mouth, we tap into another power of law. “Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit”. I have learned that with our mouth we can curse or we can give life, we can abort our miracle.

Fourth Agreement – Doing“Faith without deed is dead”, these are harsh and very direct words. I might be agreeing by thinking the right thoughts, seeing the right images, speaking the right words but if I do not do what needs to be done, it is dead. James 2:17 “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

So was I to agree. When I had an opportunity to borrow I was to turn it down, when I had an opportunity to lend to other, I was to take it, especially to others in other nations. Even a small amount, because that somehow validated my new thinking. I am a lender to many nations and borrower from none. I was told to agree and that obedience leads to a breakthrough, I wanted to follow it.

Asking for Help Near The Fish Market

Few months have passed, we moved to Male Maldives, our financial situation was becoming tougher and tougher. I was resisting opportunities to borrow, but I was still in a financial mess. I was living at my mom in law’s place. There were a couple of things that caused that, mainly health condition of my wife. That also meant that our monthly expenses were drastically reduced (rent, most of the food, utilities), however, I still struggled to keep my overdraft crossing the limit. I had a big burden on my heart. I was at the end of myself. I had no other options. My existing thinking did not work at all.

On that particular day, I left home early in the morning for my power of hour around Male, the capital of Maldives. I did that walk every day. I was walking towards the Male’s fish market, I can take you to the exact spot, there is a hockey-like branch of a tree coming on to the pavement. I cried out from the depth of my heart “Lord I need your help with the finances, I cannot figure it out”.

Immediately after that, I felt peace in my heart. I felt it was significant. I could not explain it, but there seems to be a shift.

We Found This

About a week later 16/01/2016 my friends Kris & Leedna messaged me on facebook messenger saying “we found this and thought it might be helpful for you.

I immediately started checking Gary Keesee’s youtube channel. I could relate to his story. He also had massive debts, he came to the end of himself. He also cried out to God for help and God told him to learn how The Kingdom of God operates. His teaching was different, it was very practical.

Gary teaches that we need to become our own attorney i.e answer back “It is written, section 3 paragraph 5”, e.g. Philippians 4:19“19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus..

Gary taught that the results in the Kingdom could be duplicated as any other laws (electricity, aerodynamics etc). I just need to discover the laws.

I started consuming and applying what I learned from Gary, I consumed his audios I found on youtube by listening to them several times during my power walks. I bought his book “Money Mysteries from the Master”. An amazing book must read. I become an investigator.

Feeding 5000

In one of his teachings on how Jesus fed 5000, Gary explained how multiplication takes place in the Kingdom. First, an item had to change kingdoms before it could multiply (that’s why giving is so important). Gary shared a really powerful story that inspired me to action.

He shared how he sat with his wife and kids to pray together in agreement during one of the toughest time. For the last few dollars they had they bought few small items (cookies, some fruits etc) and gave it away and that led to a breakthrough.

The story inspired me, I believed it, I did not spend any time analysing it, if that could work. I was at the end of myself. I needed a breakthrough. I went to a nearby shop, bought two bags of fruits (apples, bananas, oranges), asked my wife to pray in agreement with me and immediately went on the streets of Male to give it away. I found few expats from Bangladesh and handed in the bag.

Praying in Tongues

Gary taught on the power of praying in tongues as the Bible promises that He will reveal the mysteries.

1 Corinthians 7 “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God [c]ordained before the ages for our glory,”

During my power walk, I would walk around Male and I would pray in tongues. When I returned home, grabbed a marker and I mapped out the entire blueprint on a whiteboard time after time. God was giving me entire downloads on how to build our business.

We started applying what I received and the breakthrough started coming.

More Kingdom Laws

In 2016 May we met an apostle Bernard Evans who ever since we met has been giving us prophetic direction. Next step was to learn to pass the test of stewardship. The breakthroughs were small. In our business we were getting new customers, first one, then two, than three and it continued to grow. But different stages of growth required changes in thinking, changes in capacity in order to be able to serve better the customers I was receiving.

Bible teaches Luke 16:10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.”

I was going to Breakwaters, Citron I was listening and taking notes. Biblical laws seem to be completely opposite to many of the things we are used to in the normal world. In natural in order to make money, you supposed to save money, in the Kingdom to you supposed to give away – learn to saw.

In the natural world, leader have employees or servants, in the Kingdom “Whoever wants to be grate needs to become a servant”

Matthew 20:26 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

We started implementing these laws in our business. On the 8th of December 2017 we officially became zillionaires, we paid off all of our debts. All the glory goes to God.

This story is not about me

This story is not about me.  God does not show favoritism Acts 10:34, What He has done for one He will do for another, Why not to try? Start with Gary’s Book “Money Mysteries from the Master” to seek His truths and implement them.
