London – Learn to Fight in the Spirit

We had the final few hours before we had to leave home and go to the airport, and then I received this thought “do accounting…”

What? Now?

I wanted to ignore it but it would not go away. We were more or less packed, but we had just about 3h to start making our way to get our plane.

Accounting was the last thing I wanted and needed to do, but this thought would not leave me. Some time ago I decided that I would obey and act on it, even if I get a gentle prompting and if it aligns with the Word of God, as I learned that obedience leads to a breakthrough.

1 Samuel 15:22 “…To obey is better than sacrifice…”

Accounting sounded like the least logical activity at that time, but I decided to follow. So, I opened my computer, I opened my accounting file and was about to log in to my business bank account and then it hit me…

Where is my little device to generate the bank code? I had it in a black little wallet with all my cards…. And I could not find it.

I started looking around the house, I checked everywhere but I still could not find it. Then I asked: “Holy Spirit where is my wallet with my device?”. Immediately another thought came  “you left it in the hotel”…

I started praying and declaring that nothing will be stolen from us as we return our tithing.

Two days ago I had finished a 5-day group mentoring in one of the hotels in central London where we stayed for 5 days.

When I called the hotel’s housekeeping, they confirmed it. I left a shirt, t-shirt and a little black wallet in the safe box.

The Journey

Since I did not have time to go to the hotel, I decided to pick it up on the way to the airport. When we were about 30 min away from the hotel, I called the housekeeping and asked to leave the bag in the concierge, they said no problem.

When we arrived at the hotel, I asked the taxi driver to wait as I wanted to collect something. He could not park outside of the hotel so he had to drive around.

I walked inside the hotel, I told concierge that there should be a bag left by the housekeeping. To my surprise there was nothing there, I was told to wait. I told him that I had a car waiting outside and I needed to be fast. The concierge did not seem much concerned to attend to my request with any urgency. Then, I asked him to be taken to the housekeeping as I needed to be fast. Again, he seems completely unmoved by my need.

I was on a clock, both the taxi could not wait and we did not have much time left to get to the airport. I saw the concierge guy and his colleague giving each other looks, there was something not right. I waited few minutes and I tried again, and his colleague said: “this guy does not want to listen”.

Then I decided to change the strategy, I went to the toilet and bound and broke the spirit of delay and any other spirit that was trying to get us to miss our flight.

Visa Battle

It might sound strange, but there are battles that are not to be fought in a way we think is the best strategy to win. There are forces that use people as vehicles to create opposition against our destinies. If you have ever been in a situation that you tried everything and there was no visible progress despite all the incredible effort and best strategies that you might have fought a wrong battle.

I had that experience several months ago when we could not get any progress with our visas. Then, I received a phone call from a friend who hears very well in the spirit. He told me, “you must leave home now and go to the office of your lawyer, otherwise you will lose your visa”. I tried to ask him questions to get more details, he would not let me. He said, “leave everything you are doing and go there now”.

We were two days away from forfeiting our right to reapply for our visas and the lawyer did not seem to feel any urgency to act to post our application. When I came to the office, I tried by persuasion, it did not work. I was told it was a spiritual fight, so I stepped outside to pray. Then, I took my stand that I would not leave the office until I get the papers on that day. I was told “no way, it will not happen, it would happen the next day”. We went back and forth for few hours, I continued to pray and tear down the forces behind the opposition and finally, I walked away with all the documents ready to be posted.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[c] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:1

When I came back to the concierge, there was a bag with my belongings and I was ready to head to the airport. All the glory goes to God.

“…Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.” Zechariah 4:6

I was recommended a great book by Cindy Trimm “The Rules of Engagement” that breaks down the spiritual fight in more details. I am in the middle of reading it, it is a great manual for spiritual warfare.

If you think, you do not want to be part of any spiritual warfares, you got to understand that “Warfare is a normal New Testament Christian posture, get used to it”
